The SparkFun IoT RedBoard – ESP32 MicroPython Development Board is a versatile development platform equipped with the ESP32 WROOM module, designed to facilitate a wide range of applications from low-power sensor networks to complex tasks such as voice encoding and music streaming. This board is pre-programmed to run MicroPython, making it compatible with over 40 MicroPython-capable modules offered by SparkFun. At its core is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip, known for its scalability and adaptability.

The board features a USB-C connector for USB-to-serial communication, minimizing the need for additional driver installations. It incorporates the Qwiic Connect System, allowing for solder-free connections to I2C-based Qwiic products. Additionally, a microSD socket is available for data logging, and a 2-pin JST connector supports remote power via a single-cell LiPo battery. The board includes a built-in LiPo charge IC and a fuel gauge for efficient power management.

Operating on freeRTOS with LwIP, the board supports secure over-the-air upgrades, ensuring easy and cost-effective updates post-deployment. The integration of TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration enhances security, making it suitable for various IoT applications.
