The Fathom-X Tether Interface Board – Single provides a high-speed, long-distance Ethernet connection to an ROV or other remote platform. It is compatible with the Fathom tether, standard Cat5 cable, or even a single twisted pair of wires. Utilizing a HomePlug module, it adheres to the HomePlug AV (IEEE-191) standard for transmitting Ethernet through powerlines. This board supports Ethernet speeds of up to 8 Mbps over two wires and can handle tether lengths exceeding 3 meters. It is designed for plug-and-play use, requiring no setup.

The board features an onboard switching power supply with a 7-28V input range and includes a USB Mini-B connector for direct power from a computer. Indicator LEDs display power, link, and data statuses. A 6-inch Ethernet cable is included for connection to an onboard computer. The same board is used on both ends of the tether, one on the ROV and one on the topside, and multiple boards can be connected to the same tether lines.

The Fathom-X Tether Interface Board is open-source and open-hardware, with schematics and board files available for viewing, modification, and reuse.
